From:
Savage, Kathleen I met you at the Internship Club a few weeks ago. I am a recent graduate from your Tewksbury school. Ann Marie was my instructor and I just wanted to tell you how much I loved the course and how much fun it was. I am a registered nurse and decided this summer to do something fun and different so I called and signed up. This has been a hoot!!!!! The course really does prepare you after just a week to be an actual bartender. The intern sessions at the Club were great. Karen, Peggy and Ann Marie are all very supportive and give you the confidence you need to take that first step. This past weekend I worked @ the PGA tournament in Norton, in the Stop and Shop tent on Monday and was able to perform quite well ( I was the only bartender in this tent). As a matter of fact I did such a good job the manager from the State Street Bank next door stopped me on my out at the end of the day and said she watched me and wanted me to work for her next year. I thanked her and told her this was my actual very first “job” as a bartender and she was surprised. I told her were I went to school and how much I loved it. It was a great day, I got $232 in tips, sore feet and very sore back but it was a wonder experience. Thank you again to Anne Marie and Peggy for being so encouraging and patient. I would highly recommend this school to anyone (young or even old like me).

got a job!!
Dear Mike,
I graduated NEBS bartending school April 28. I got a job 2 hours
later at a local restaurant in my town, called Top of the Hill
Bar & grill. I was interview and hired on the spot and I started
working the next day! They trained me for 3 shifts that week and
on my first weekend working I made $400!! Peggy was such a great
teacher, I learned everything I needed to know from her and was
well prepared for my new job! In fact, my new boss was so
impressed with my skills, knowledge, and confidence he couldn't
believe that I had never bartended before. I made back the money
it cost me for school my first weekend and I had so much fun
doing it. I want to thank New England Bartending School for
getting me here and to Peggy, my awesome teacher for getting me
here!!

Subject: I
got a job!!
Hey Mike,
So I graduated two weeks ago and been filling out
applications on almost a daily basis. The class gave me such
confidence and enthusiasm that I felt that I could get right
into the work force and start working right away. Saturday
night I had my first job, I was hired through the school to
work at a real good place and also an engagement party. I
have to admit I was a little nervous at first because it was
both the person I was working with and my first times
bartending. But once we got there we were totally relaxed
and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Thanks for
providing us with an instant opportunity to succeed in the
bartending business.

Program Introduction:
The NEBS licensed bartender's program is designed to teach people mixology at all levels with the emphasis on products & spirits. The focus of the program is drink building. Once you know how to build drinks, you'll be able to make anything! You'll also be taught exactly how to perform all important aspects of the bartending job such as; customer service & managing the bar when it gets busy.
MIXING DRINKS: The first step in learning bartending is to learn how to use the bar tools to build drinks. Once you learn drink building you can make any drink! Most cocktail martini's are built the same way. For example; Chill the cocktail glass first, then build in the glass shaker the proper measured ingredients, stir (shake) then strain into the chilled martini glass. Then create the drink garnish presentation that will make it look great! Once you get that down, you can make anything! Improvise many different natural ingredients to make all of today's the fancy drinks. Then you'll be called a Bar Chief. That's why the NEBS program emphasizes drink building. (See Video Program Presentation)
BARTENDING: Today's Mixologist "Bar Chief" does it all from mixing drinks, to more importantly; handling the tough "in the weeds" situations, dealing with customers as the night goes on!
You'll learn how to deal with real live situations by repeated drills from our very experienced instructors. You'll learn "the do's & the don'ts" that you can't learn in a bar book or online! The school will prepare you to handle all the responsibilities of the bartending job, and then help you get ONE!
MANAGING THE BAR: The bartender controls the bar environment. Much like operating your own business, the bartender needs to be very much aware of the surroundings, making sure that the bar has what it needs to do business as customers place their orders. Bartenders need to be multi tasked in order to perform the job properly. The NEBS program emphasizes just how bartenders can keep the bar operating properly at all times.
Teaching & Instruction:
NEBS instructors are required to have a minimum of 10 years related experience in different types of places. It is important for the instructor to be able to educate students in how the bartending job is done in restaurants, pubs night clubs & private parties.
People take the course for different reasons. The instructors need to be on the same page & be able to answer questions about all the different types of bartending jobs. This requires experience! The hot shot bartender may not be the best instructor. It is important for instructors to work with students at all levels and help them reach their individual goals.
As for drink making, drills are conducted to teach people speed & accuracy. Mixing several drinks at the same time is an important part of bartending. For example; picking up a bottle one time to make 3 drinks saves time with multiple orders. Which drinks do you make first? If you are preparing an order with a Cosmo Martini, Screwdriver, and Frozen Drink along with 3 bottles of beer and a glass of wine, what are the best steps for completing that order so the beverages taste their best? AND... How should you deal with the service bartenders and waitresses as your bar gets very busy? What can you do to keep your bar seats full?
That's what the NEBS program is all about!
Web Tutorial Assistant:
It is not mandatory to use this training tutorial in order to complete our Professional Bartender's Program. As you know by taking other courses, successful programs need visual aids that support the hands-on portion of the course. It makes learning easier & more fun for people at all levels to learn better & faster. As part of our continuing education, here is where you can take bartending to a higher level.
NEBS does not buy thousands of books at a time! With the NEBS program, you won't get an old book with old information. You'll get a professionally bound training manual with up-to date information with all the new products and recipes. TUTORIAL WEB SITE ASSISTANCE TOO! The manual has hundreds of pictures of all the brand name bottles & bar tools that you'll be working with a proper description of what to do on the job. Sounds good? Wait until you walk through our doors & see our facilities and meet our professional instructors! Our Reference Library:
Over one dozen of the world's most popular reference bartending books are at your finger tips here at NEBS! Every licensed school is required to have on-site a library of books related to subjects matter taught. We believe ours is the most complete of all!
Optional Job Internship: The only bartending school in MA that offers an internship! Our students work for real! Graduates are offered the opportunity to bartend in a real bar each & every week and earn money too! That's right! Our school has developed an internship with a sports bar that gets our graduates real experience. Students have raved about how much fun this is & how exiting making lots of new friends too! (New England grads on the job below)
WINE TASTING DEMONSTRATION: Take wine knowledge to the next level. Some bartending jobs require a more complete understanding of wine and wine service. The demonstration is free!
